The modern Soviet and Russian army duffel bag is made of durable cotton fabric treated with tent impregnation. The straps for hanging the luggage on the outside are made of tarpaulin, the buckles are made of aluminum alloy. A duffel bag for the ground forces is painted in protective colors.
The duffel bag consists of the bag itself, on which the outer pocket is sewn, and a wide strap-strap attached to the bag, four pairs of short straps for attaching the external attachment and an additional chest strap-tie for fixing the straps when wearing. The bag has a useful volume of about 30 liters. The neck of the bag can be tightened with a rope.
The main strap is a wide cloth belt, fastened through two aluminum buckles sewn on the sides of the bag from the bottom. After closing the bag, the middle part of this belt is assembled into a loop, through which the neck of the bag is passed, after which the loop is tightened, forming two shoulder straps. Due to the buckles, the length of the straps can be adjusted as needed. An additional strap-tie for the straps provides comfort when wearing the duffel bag for a long time, preventing the straps from sliding off the shoulders.
The outer pocket is sewn on the back of the bag in the center, it closes at the top with a flap and fastens with a button. On the sides of the bag, two pairs of canvas belts with buckles are sewn to it: with their help, two cylindrical objects or containers with a height of approximately 30 cm and a diameter of up to 15 cm can be attached to the sides of the bag. Initially, these belts were intended for attaching a raincoat and / or overcoat rolled into a roll, but they can also be hung on any other suitably sized luggage.
Styling.
The duffel bag is made of soft fabric and has no fittings that would support its shape, nor parts for attaching the luggage inside the bag. Therefore, to ensure comfort when wearing and the safety of the contents of the duffel bag, certain rules must be observed when laying it.
Heavy and low-pressure sensitive items are placed on the bottom.
Soft items (such as spare clothing) are placed on the wall adjacent to the back.
Items and containers with sharp corners are placed in the middle of the bag, between other things, so that the corners do not come into contact with the fabric of the bag. If this is not possible, it is necessary to cover the corners, paving them with any sufficiently strong, but soft thing.
Relatively light and less durable items are placed on top.
Small items should be packed in containers or bundles.
Items that may require quick access are placed in the outer pocket.
To avoid moving things inside the bag, the packing should be tight. The neck is tied with straps so that there is no free space left in the bag over the things. If necessary, the duffel bag can be additionally tightened from the sides with external fastening straps.
