This was the
original Broadway run
of the classic

Hammerstein
musical. This show opened in
March 1951
and this Playbill is from the week of
September 15

1952
at the
St
.
James Theatre
in
New York City!
The play starred
Yul Brynner
and
Constance Carpenter
with several others.
The play won all five
Tony Awards
that it was nominated for in
1952
, including
Yul Brynner
as
Best Featured Actor
and
Best Musical
!
The Playbill even includes the
original ticket stub
from the
September 19

1952
evening show, which was attached to the first page by the original owner. As shown in the photos, this vintage Playbill is in very good condition for its age with some cover wear and light soiling, including a central fold. The Playbill is complete and remains securely stapled from its cover to its centerfold. It has clean pages with no writing, rips, or tears except for very few small edge tears. This rare vintage Broadway Playbill magazine
would make a great addition to your collection!
