    Description

This Playbill is from the original Broadway production of Happy Hunting, starring Ethel Merman and Fernando Lamas. This production ran from December 6, 1956 to November 30, 1957 for 412 performances. This Playbill dates from the week of February 25, 1957 and features the original cast. Happy Hunting was nominated for four Tony Awards, including Best Actor in a Musical, Best Actress in a Musical, Best Featured Actress in a Musical and Best Costume Design. Unfortunately, it had the misfortune of being nominated the same year as My Fair Lady and so the production won no awards. Interestingly, Julie Andrews and Ethel Merman were both beat out of the Tony Award for Best Actress by Judy Holliday.
As with all playbills, this one is filled with interesting vintage ads for cars, cigarettes, lingerie, fashion and alcohol! There are also many ads for nightclubs and restaurants in Manhattan.
Ethel Merman is a legend in the theatre world. Here is a chance to own a less well known piece of her performing career!
